Since then, we have achieved considerable milestones (see our history page), culminating in the move to our North Gosford premises in 2009 with a broadcasting license stylish to 2017. Our staff are all volunteers ranging from presenters who broadcast 3 hour programs each day, to urge staff who manage a myriad of things in the office, to the management committee who ensure than everything functions as in any normal business. We are nonprofit and self funded and each year we undertake a range of fund raising events to ensure that we can continue to yield the music entertainment that the community enjoys.

Thanks to a couple of dedicated radio buffs, Phil Paterson and Ian Hill, feeling the need for a local community radio station in the Coy Peninsular area catering for seniors’ music tastes, Radio FiveOPlus was born. However, it was August 1993 prior routine broadcasting began two days per week using a trivial room above a pharmacy in Umina as the studio. Due to the huge response from listeners, it was decided to move locations to the central Gosford area. For some years, broadcasts were on weekends until our broadcasting time was extended to three days which then included Mondays. Our second, was the retirement of our much loved Trivial dippy. With the advent of streaming, we now have listeners tuning in from regional areas, interstate and overseas. From a very little beginning by the five founding members, we now have a dedicated staff of presenters who select their own music and present live broadcasts daily and dedicated urge staff to aid the presenters and regulate the phones as well as manage the office work to keep the station up and running 247. However, we wouldn’t be in business but for the wider community who listen to us every day and who have supported us through this more than 20 year journey.
