Jubila Singers will be starting in mid-October in two locations: Tuesday evenings in Erina and Thursday mornings in Terrigal.
Jubila Singers' goal is to have fun, improve vocal technique, learn how to sing in harmony, learn and sing music from other countries as well as Australia, aim for an excellent choral sound and make new friends. They also plan to join with other community choirs during the year to share songs, food and laughter.
The choir intends to sing for the joy of singing rather than for performing, but may make the odd public appearance which benefits charities or celebrations agreed upon by the singers. All that is asked of singers is a love of music, a love of learning and a sense of humour.
There are no auditions, and although music-reading skills and singing experience are great assets, they are not necessary to participate. They sing music from many cultures in a vibrant and joyful environment, and especially focus on music from countries where there is a strong choral tradition of singing in harmony such as Africa, Eastern Europe and Polynesia.
Her a cappella choirs are known for warmly welcoming singers of all levels of experience. There she also founded and directed the enthusiastic and talented VIV Singers (Vision In Voice), a choir for visually impaired singers and for those with aphasia.
The choirs will be under the direction of Jane Becktel, who founded and directed the strongly supported Morningsong Choir in Queensland. (more).
