I’ve been teaching piano since 2004. I specialise in teaching jazz, blues and improvisation as well as AMEB grades. I’m based in Erina, but travel to surrounding areas such as Gosford, Springfield, Terrigal, Green Point, Kincumber, Saratoga, Bensville, Empire Bay, Woy Woy, Umina Beach, Killcare, Pretty Beach, Wagstaffe, and many more. My teaching style is based on the needs of the student. Some of my students excel within the Australian Music Examination Board (AMEB) structure, working through the grades and doing regular exams. Others do better just learning for pleasure at their own pace, whether it’s blues, jazz, pop-songs or the classics. I try to work with the student’s strengths to build confidence, then tackle at their own pace what they find difficult. I also try to instill an inquisitiveness about the theory of music rather than just learning by copying and repetition, so the student really understands what they are playing, and the knowledge is for life.

Lessons in my home studio are charged at the rate of $30 per half hour lesson when you book a full term (or $35 if you pay per lesson). Lessons where I travel to you are $35 per half hour lesson (or $40 pay per lesson). 45 min or 60 min lessons are also available and are recommended for those wishing to pursue jazz improvisation. Prices on request.
After an initial 3 week trial lessons must be purchased in blocks of 5 or 10 weeks (it gives us more time in the lesson for piano playing!).
If a lesson must be missed due to illness, students receive one “make up” lesson  for every 5 week block. So if you book a ten week block you get two “make up” lessons, which must be completed within the term.
